v4 How can David say that he sinned against God?

He broke God’s laws…adultery, murder

v4 Why is God right in judging us?

We go against what God would have us do. We hurt others.

Romans 3:5-8 But if our unrighteousness brings out God's righteousness more clearly, what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? …6Certainly not! If that were so, how could God judge the world? 7Someone might argue, "If my falsehood enhances God's truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?" 8Why not say…—"Let us do evil that good may result"? Their condemnation is deserved.

Romans 3: 21-26 … a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known… through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. … 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

Hebrews 9: 10They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings—external regulations applying until the time of the new order.

Hebrews 9: 13 The blood of goats and bulls …sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, …(who) offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

yes, God can restore the relationship

He accepts Christ’s sacrifice

Romans 8:1-4 1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,…God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, 4in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 5: 21God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Galatians 3: 26You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, 27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

David didn’t strike out against Nathan when confronted with his sin, he admitted his sin.

David may see that his sin will have an effect on the nation.

v19 What are "righteous sacrifices?"

Worship in spirit and truth, with faith in God

What is the implication of "whole burnt offerings?"

not holding back, giving God what we should

Cain and Abel Cain did not give an acceptable offering.

Hebrews 11: 4By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead.
